Cheerfulness is a character trait that is certainly missing from many lives! This elusive quality is hard for many people to understand, because in such a world as ours, how can anyone be truly cheerful?
The child of God can show cheerfulness as a result of faith in God, knowing that He provides and that the future is secure. We must strive to help our children know this joy that only Christ can give. Only then will they live lives that are cheerful.
Faith in God means knowing that He is in control at all times. If God is in control, then whatever happens is for your best. When you have a problem, give it to God! He wants us to trust in Him, not in ourselves. Remember–even though it is human to have cares and concerns–if you worry, you are not truly trusting God. Pray for His wisdom and guidance in any situation you might face. You need to be able to have a good attitude and spirit, no matter what is going on in your life.
Determine to finish your course with joy. The Bible teaches that God has a plan and purpose for your life. Understanding that God has a plan and purpose for everyone allows you to trust in Him. Let Him guide your life instead of trying to run things in your own strength.
Memory Verse: “A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.” Proverbs 15:13
